HOBOKEN — Mr. Burleigh Lamar Simmons, 73, died Saturday evening, April 26, 2025 at his residence in Hoboken, following an extended illness.
Simmons was born in Tampa, Fla., to the late Burleigh Lee Simmons and Lucile Macy Stowe Simmons. He served in the United States Army and was a machinist with CSX. He was of the Baptist faith.
Simmons is survived by his wife, Tammy Jacobs of Hoboken; a stepson, Levi Crews; two step grandchildren, Ivee Crews and Marvin Crews; his father-inlaw, Tobie James Jacobs; his special cousins, Glenda and J.R. Ashworth of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
