Rebuilding Together Waycross, which is entering its 27th year, to continues its mission of providing critical repairs to homes and nonprofit organizations free of charge This Saturday (April 26), the organization will be making essential repairs to eight dwellings for Ware County homeowners and two nonprofit organizations (Southern Forest World and Alano), courtesy of the dedication and hard work of volunteers.

Elderly homeowners or or those who have permanent disabilities and are in financial need will be aided. By offering Rebuilding Together Waycross services, it is the aim to improve their living conditions and provide a safe and comfortable environment.

The work Rebuilding Together Waycross does is not just about fixing houses, it’s about rebuilding lives and strengthening the community.

RTW has had several volunteer groups who’ve been loyal to the cause over the years, including First Presbyterian Church and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Waycross). They have taken on at least two of the projects most years.

UPS employees also have been loyal to projects, often taking on tasks both before and after the workday.

Swamp Road Baptist Church has taken on some challenging, but rewarding projects and sends a huge group of volunteers.

First Baptist Church, Waycross First Assembly, First Baptist Church, Winona Park Methodist Church and Trinity Methodist Church have also been faithful in taking on projects.

Other groups volunteering this year include Memorial Satilla Health, PrimeSouth Bank, Truist and United Community Bank.

Conard Johnson, a house captain for several years, has led one of two volunteer groups from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Serving others in the Savior’s way — who better to serve than those in need in your own community?” said Johnson.

He reiterated what many of our volunteers have expressed over the years “that working together to help others brings blessings to those who serve.

Johnson is leading a team to conduct repairs, including replacing a roof at the Alano building which houses organizations who serve those impacted by alcohol addiction.

House captains for this year’s projects include Michael D’Ambrosio, Joey Chancey, Trevor Thomas, Wendell Bagley, Steven Chancey, Tim Scheuing, Dough Quick, Ronnie Shepard, and Johnson.

To volunteer, visit http://www.rebuiltingtogetherweebly. com and complete a volunteer application, then come to Central Baptist Church at 7 a.m. Saturday for the kickoff breakfast and to get a work site assignment. Volunteers also can sign up at the kickoff breakfast.
