Mom’s Night Out scheduled May 1 The care team at Memorial Satilla Specialists Women’s Health, 505 S. City Boulevard stages Mom’s Night Out, at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 1.

The event is free and open to the public to celebrate Women’s Health Month. Registration is required by visiting memorialsatillahealth. com/calend ar or calling (912) 5846201.

Attendees will be able to speak with health care providers, enjoy refreshments and have a chance to win a variety of door prizes.

Stamp Out Hunger food drive May 10 The National Association of Letter Carriers conducts “Stamp Out Hunger,” its annual food drive Saturday, May 10.

Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items left at mailboxes during deliveries that day. All donations remain in the community in which they’re collected.

Wayne welcomes new ENT doctor Wayne Memorial Hospital and Wayne SJ/C Medical Group holds a Drop-In Welcome Breakfast for Dr. Robert Fowler, ENT, Tuesday, April 29.

The combination breakfast- welcome will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria conference room. It is open to the public.

Dr. Fowler’s office is located at 125 Memorial Drive in Jesup and may be reached by calling (912) 427-7790.

Library trustees set May 1 meeting The Waycross-Ware County Public Library Board of Trustees has postponed its meeting scheduled for next week.

The board now will meet at 4 p.m., Thursday May 1 at the Waycross-Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue.

OHC Folk Festival scheduled May 3

Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, holds its second annual Okefenokee Folk Festival-Sue Clark Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3. The event is dedicated to showcasing the area’s folk ways and history during the mid-to late-nineteenth century. Proceeds benefit OHC and will aid in the preservation of local artifacts and the upkeep of historic structures.

In addition to the historical presentations, arts, crafts, and food vendors, the monthly WayGreen Local Fare Market also will be on site.

SGSC stage group reads ‘Luce’ May 1 South Georgia State College Theatre Productions holds a stage reading of the play “Luce” at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 1 in the Educational Building Auditorium in Waycross.

Admission is free for SGSC students with donations of $5 or more per person appreciated by the productions team.

The work of J.C. Lee will be presented by Abbie Parker, Amaya Acheoche, Josua Kirkley, Kayla Dixon, Keller Phillips, and T’Velle Hicks. Sociology professor Dr. Carl Ide will moderate a talkback on the production.

Katherine LeRoy-Lawson is director and Joseph Rollins the technical director.

Lee’s probing play about a suspicious teenager addresses issues of privilege, race, and trust. It also raises questions on the roles that parents and teachers play in the lives of teenage students.

Regional Library Board meets May 5 The Regional Library Board of the Okefenokee Regional Library System meets at 4 p.m. Monday, May 5 at the Waycross-Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue.

Senior dance slated May 10

The Ware County Recreation Department holds a senior citizen dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, May 10 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Cecil Brown Drive.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost of admission is $7 per person. There will be light refreshments, a 50-50 raffle, and DJ Fred Hand playing all the oldies.
