Robert Daniel “Danny” Sheffield, 77, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Lewis Greene Sheffield and Lessie Lenora Hubbard Sheffield. He was a 1966 graduate of Ware County High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an HVAC technician most of his life but had most recently been a truck driver for Crete Carrier Corporation. He was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Johnson; a grandson, Zac Sheffield; a sister, Shirley Crawford and a brother, Lewis O. Sheffield.
Survivors include his wife, Merita “Lynn” Sheffield, Blackshear; one daughter, April Helms (Chris), Lincoln, AL; three sons, Dan Sheffield (Greta), McDonough, Paul Sheffield (Bridget), Valdosta and Joshua Strickland (Tori), Darien; 11 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; one brother, Benji Sheffield (Patsy), Hahira and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025) from the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Waters Cemetery.
