The Pierce County Historical Society has a new website.

The society’s site can be found at https:// www.piercecogahistorical. mypixieset.com.

Society president Bert Walker says the group hopes the new site will be user friendly and will create new interest in the group’s historical preservation efforts in the county.

“We encourage everyone to check out the site and take a look around at Pierce County’s rich history,” Walker said.

The new site gives an overview of Pierce County’s history and also features a photo gallery featuring local churches, family genealogical information, sports and military records and historic buildings and documents.

The site also includes Historical Society meeting information and announcements and details about the society.

For details on how to donate pictures, documents and historical memorabilia to the society, please call Bert Walker at (912) 614-1726 or Keith Jeffers at (912) 288-7916.

The next meeting of the historical society will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the Historic Blackshear Train Depot on SW Central Avenue, Blackshear. Everyone is invited to attend.
