Kelli Moore is remembered this week as “a diamond” to her students at Blackshear Elementary School.
Moore, 56, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, after a cour ageous battle with cancer.
Moore was the recipient of the Pierce County School System’s first-ever “Diamond Award” at the county-wide meeting at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year last August.
Moore was a beloved kindergarten paraprofessional for over 17 years at Blackshear Elementary.
Colleagues, students and parents loved Moore for her kindness and genuine care for not only her students, but for all those she encountered.
Moore said after she was recognized with the award that she was “rewarded every day” she was in the classroom.
“I love being around kids. I try to be there for them, but the truth is they give me a lot more in return — including the best hugs,” she said, at the time.
Funeral services for Moore were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9.
