(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, April 10.)
Lift stations for Hyers Street and Industrial Boulevard: Mayor Dedi Thomas informed the council the city has purchased the new lift stations for Hyers Street and Industrial Boulevard. Council members had previously approved the purchase. Total cost for the two lift stations came to $85,999 apiece from Smith and Loveless Company of Lexana, Kansas. Mayor Thomas estimated the final cost of the lift stations with installation will be approximately $190,000. The project will be paid for using the city’s special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST).
Department reports: Public works superintendent and fire chief Tyler Stokes reported the fire department responded to eight calls in the city in March including five fire calls, two medical calls and one traffic call. He also reported the public works department has resumed normal operating procedures for the first time since Hurricane Helene in late September. Police Chief Nick Strickland was not present at the meeting as he was away attending chief’s training. City Clerk Laura Kate Dixon had nothing to report.
Shortest meeting ever?: The meeting was believed to be one of the shortest ever recorded for the Patterson City Council. The meeting lasted just over three minutes.
Next meeting: The next regular monthly meeting will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8. The meeting will be held at Eagle Station.
