SARDIS – Bobbie Ray Allen, 68, of Sardis passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Wellstar HCG Health System after a brief illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Allen’s parents were Eugen Allen and Nathenia Day Allen. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Aubery Allen, Ernest Allen and E.A. Allen; and a sister, Scherril Allen.
Allen was a retired sergeant from the United States Army and was a loving husband and father. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed welding, building things and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Allen of Sardis; three daughters and sonsin- law, Patricia Knight (Carey) of Brunswick, Beverly Gardner (Tim) of Townsend and Lorie Edwards of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, Dewayne Knight, Joshua Knight (Shelly), Emory Knight, Cara Knight, Nicole Regan (Jared), T.J. Gardner (Chelsey), Katie Strickland (Candler), Camron Gardner, Rodney Edwards, Jr., and Britney Edwards; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Horris Allen (Sheron) of Sardis and Joe Allen (JoAnne) of Guyton; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce Aldrich, Barbara Baker (Carl) all of Metter and Juanita Googe of Lyons; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A funeral service was held Friday morning, April 4, 2025 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Gardner officiating.
Burial followed in Little Cemetery with Military Honors.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
