Loudean O’Berry Hodge

HORTENSE — Loudean O’Berry Hodge, 76 of Hortense, transitioned into her heavenly home Saturday, April 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

The Pierce County native was a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church and lived out her

Hodge

faith by sharing the Gospel as an ordained minister.

Her mail ministry kept the postman busy as she would enc ourage others through the Christcentered cards she mailed out and in return would receive as well.

Some other hobbies were gardening, cooking and fishing. Her son, David L. Hodge, Jr., preceded her in death along with her parents, Henry Wade “Jack” and Macy Louise (Durrance) O’Berry; brothers, Henry Wade, Sr., Henry Lee, Sr., and Michael Ray O’Berry; and a very special son-inlaw, Kevin “Cool Breeze” Tomlinson.

Survivors are her husband of 62 years, David L. Hodge, Sr., of Hortense; two daughters, Lisa Tomlinson and Cindy (Craig) Ryan, both of Hortense; six grandchildren, James (Cherie) Bullard, John Paul (Kelly) Bullard, Diana (Selby) Collins, Miranda (Shane) Dashaw, Ben (Shelley) Smith and Amanda (Josh) Ratliff; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Melissa Chancey; two brothers, Cecil (Joanne) O’Berry and James (Patricia) O’Berry.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church in Hortense with Rev. Hugh “Bubba” Hodge officiating.

Interment followed in the Hortense Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Hodge and Benny Smith, Sr.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
