Brantley County’s junior varsity Herons tied Toombs County and split two games Charlton County during a busy week of action.
The Herons (8-5-2) rallied from six runs down Monday, March 31 in battling Toombs County to an 8-all tie, the second draw for Brantley County in three games.
Charlton County posted a 9-1 victory Thursday, April 3 in Caney Bay with the Herons rolling 14-6 Saturday, April 5 in Folkston.
Brantley County wrapped up its season traveling Monday, April 7 to Douglas to face Coffee High.

CANEY BAY — A sixrun fourth inning helped Brantley County overcome an 8-2 deficit and tie up the Bulldogs.
Parker Rentz (2.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 3 BB, 1 WP) and Dalton Bennett (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 WP) shut down Toombs County over the fifth and sixth innings.
The Herons grabbed a 2-0 lead in their first trip to the plate. Rentz (4-for-4) opened the inning with a single and advanced to second when Bennett (1for-3) was hit by the ensuing pitch.
After the runners moved up on Cain Roberson’s groundout, Rentz scored on a wild pitch. Bennett scored three pitches on a second wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs dented the plate five times in the second inning against Rylee Young (1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) and Ellis Westover (1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 K, 3 BB, 1 HBP).
Toombs County used three consecutive two-out singles to do the damage taking a 5-2 lead. The Bulldogs sandwiched two singles and a walk in between the first two outs.
The visitors loaded the bases with one out in the third inning with two walks and a hit batter. Toombs County scored on a single and a walk extending the lead to 7-2 before the Herons got out of the jam with two strikeouts.
The Bulldogs plated a final run in the fourth for a six-run advantage on a leadoff double and ensuing run-scoring single.
Down 8-2, Brantley County sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth scoring six times.
Westover reached on a leadoff error, Cullen Bass (1-for-3) singled and Tallan Collins was hit by a pitch loading the bases with nobody out. A oneout walk to Garrett Cox forced home the first run.
Rentz followed with a run-scoring single cutting the deficit to 8-4. Bennett followed three pitches later with a bases clearing triple pulling BCHS to within 8-7. Bennett raced home with tying run on Roberson’s groundout.
Toombs County loaded the bases in the fifth with one out and was unable to score. A Bulldog was stranded in the sixth.
The Herons twice had the game-winning run on base in the sixth. Ethan Sherrod (1-for-2) led off with an single and cut down on a doubleplay. Rentz followed with a single ahead of the final out.

CANEY BAY — Visiting Charlton County plated eight run in its first at bat in beating the Herons.
The Indians’ first 12 batters reached with two being ousted from the base paths when caught stealing by Roberson.
Three BCHS pitchers combined to throw 65 pitches, walk eight batters, hit a batter, surrender two doubles, committ a balk and the defense committed an error.
The Herons scored their lone run in the bottom of the second cutting the lead to 8-1. Dennis Raulerson (1-for-2) doubled to open the inning. Consecutive walks to Connor Sumner and Ethan Jones loaded the bases with nobody out.
A one-out, fielder’s choice groundout by Bass scored Raulerson.
Charlton County sandwiched two hit batters around the first out of the third inning. A bloop single scored the lead runner for a 9-1 lead.

FOLKSTON — Brantley County used a pair of three-run innings and three homers en route to beating the Indians.
Bennett (3.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 K, 4 BB, 3 WP) and Roberson (3.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, 2 HBP, 1 WP) combined on the six-hitter finishing with 10 strikeouts.
The Herons did their first inning damage after two outs and nobody on base. Roberson (1-for-2) drew a two-out walk, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Raulerson’s (3-for-3) double for a 1-0 lead. It was the first of seven runs driven in by Raulerson.
Sumner (1-for-3) followed two pitches later with a run-scoring double. Courtesy runner Garrett Cox raced home from second when Westover’s (2for-4) grounder was thrown away extending the lead to 3-0.
BCHS doubled the margin to 6-0 with a threerun third, the first of five consecutive innings in which the Herons scored. Rentz (1-for-3) opening the inning with a firstpitch double. He advanced to third on a one-out wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch.
After Roberson walked, Raulerson followed with the first of his two home runs, this one a two-run blast, pushing the lead out to 6-0.
The lead grew to 7-0 with a run in the fourth. Sherrod (1-for-3) drew a leadoff walk and reached second on Young’s (1for-3) one-out singe. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch ahead of Rentz’s sacrifice fly to center.
Charlton County scored twice in the bottom of the inning on a dropped third strike and a wild pitch closing the margin to 7-2.
The Herons got the two runs back in the top of the fifth in opening up a 9-2 advantage. Raulerson was hit by the first pitch of the inning, stole second and scored on Westover’s first-pitch, two-run homer.
The Indians scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to climb to within 9-5. A one-out, run-scoring double and a twoout throwing error allowed two runners to race home.
Brantley County struck for four runs in the sixth to build a 13-5 advantage. Young walked to start the inning, Bennett was hit by a one-out pitch and Roberson legged out an infield hit loading the bases. Raulerson hit the ensuing pitch for a grandslam homer.
The Herons plated a final run in the top of the seventh. Sherrod led off with a single with Collins drawing a walk. Both moved up on a wild pitch with Young’s ensuing groundout scoring Sherrord for a 14-5 advantage.
Charlton County strung together backto- back, two-out doubles to score its final run in the bottom half of the inning.
