Recovery efforts are underway for a Waycross man who drowned Sunday afternoon, April 6, on the Satilla River in the Yellow Bluff area.
Malcolm O’Hara, age unavailable, of a Waycross address drowned in the Yellow Bluff area of the river near the Okefenokee Country Club, according to Sheriff Ramsey Bennett.
O’Hara was reportedly with a group of friends at the river Sunday, when he went under the water and did not resurface. As of press time, efforts were still underway to recover O’Hara’s body.
Bennett said the case has been turned over to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources since the waters of the Satilla would fall under their jurisdiction.
