Azalea Street in Blackshear will be closed through at least tomorrow, Thursday, April 10.
The closure is necessary due to an emergency repair for a track surface defect at the CSX railroad crossing on Azalea Street according to Ericka Nickell of Southern Commercial Development, LLC.
The closure is in place between U.S. Highway 84 and Nichols Street.
The complay contracs with CSX to provide traffic control and detour signage for railroad crossing closures which require necessary maintenance and emergency repairs.
The Azalea Street closure is a total closure of all lanes meaning no traffic will be allowed across the tracks until the work is complete.
Signage is in place marking the closure area and detour routes, where available.
Nickell said last minute schedule changes are highly likely and dates are subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are asked to please avoid the closure area if possible.
