Rec board gets new app for its programs

Pierce County Recreation Department now has Rec Desk, a new app designed to help manage recreation programs.

The recreation board unanimously approved purchasing the program during its regular monthly board meeting last Tuesday morning. Cost of the program is $57,000.

Recreation Director Maureen Brown recommended purchasing the app.

The app is accessible by phone and email and will allow recreation staff and coaches to notify parents about sign ups, schedule changes, field availability and weather cancellations.

Parents would be able to do sign ups on the app as well.

Brown said Appling and Ware County both have the app and both have reported it works well for their departments.

No launch date for the new app has been set.
