David Wayne Davis Sr., 69, of Screven, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL, following an extended illness.
Born in Brunswick, his parents were Raymond Clancey Davis and Ruby Lane Davis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Davis.
He served in the United States Army and also worked many years as a carpenter. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a Hunter Safety Course Instructor and also helped with the Wounded Warrior Project.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Davis, Screven; five sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Davis (Trina), Jacksonville, FL, Caleb Davis (Jessica), Smithfield, NC., David Wayne Davis Jr. (Kayla), Blackshear, Jeremy Rowell, Hortense and Josh Harris (Tiffany), Patterson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Davis of Ohio, Sabrina Taft (Kenneth), Millwood and Ashley Perry (Kyle), Waycross; 13 grandchildren, Kimberly, Wayne, Richard and Elora Davis, Brooke Faulk (Laban), Whitney Walker (Colby), Brittany Davis, Molly, Masyn, Macey and Maxxyn Perry and Chael and Michelle Harris; one great-grandchild Mia Davis, Waycross; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buck Davis (Pauline), Hickox, Jeff Davis (Anita), Hortense and Billy Joe Davis (Valerie), Jesup; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Thorn (Robert), Milledgeville and Charlotte Davis of Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Donna Davis and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, from the Frye Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sheldon Rowell officiating.
Interment will follow in Hortense Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Taft, Will Robinson, Brandon Chancey, Bruce McCullars, Mark Denison, Tristan Davis and Curt Deal.
