New recreation app: The recreation board approved purchasing the online app, Rec Desk. (See related item.)
Director’s report: Recreation Director Maureen Brown reported spring sports are set to kick off Monday, April 14 with a full schedule of baseball and soccer. She also announced the dates for district and state tournaments. She reported new light poles have been erected at Bowen and Burgsteiner Fields with the lights soon to be set. Brown also announced the department’s golf and tennis teams are set for the season. Golf will host a match May 29 and the district tournament July 9, both at Lakeview. Tennis will host a match June 11. Brown announced this year’s track and field day were not as well attended as 2024, but there were still over 100 participants. The director also announced upcoming summer camps. She said NFL football player Adrian Peterson is scheduled to conduct a football and agility camp and Brazil Soccer United Academy will host a soccer camp.
Next meeting: The next monthly meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Southeast Georgia Regional Agriculture Center (SEGARAC) on College Avenue.
