Greig Stephen Berneche

Greig Stephen Berneche, 63, of Waycross, passed away Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross. 

Born in Augusta February 5, 1962, he grew up in South Georgia moving to Minnesota as a teenager where he would graduate from high school and go on to enlist in the U.S. Army. Following his time in the military, he owned his own tree trimming business in Minnesota before moving back to Georgia 20 years ago. He worked in construction for Scotbilt Homes then for Live Oak Homes before retiring. He was a huge NASCAR fan and loved to laugh and pick on people. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Herring and a brother, Brian Corbitt. 

Survivors include his wife, April Grau Berneche, Waycross; two daughters, Sara Berneche (husband, Steven Bender), St. Marys and Paige Bowers (husband, Jeffery), Blackshear; three sons, Wayne Carver III, Caleb Boatright and Julian Boatright, all of Waycross; his mother, Carol Berneche Corbitt, Waycross; three brothers, Scott Berneche (wife, Faye), Jesup, Darrin Corbitt, Waycross and Billy Corbitt (wife, Kim), Askov, MN; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Corbitt, Blackshear; five grandchildren, Paisley Bowers, Harlie Wilson, Rylie Bender, Cooper Bowers and Tatum Bowers; his pet bulldog, Khloe and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

The family will be celebrating his life at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5,  at the home of Paige and Jeffery Bowers, 6641 Tot Drive, Blackshear. 

Memorialization will be by cremation. 

Memorials may be made to Pearson-Dial Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
