Ware County thinclads sweep titles in six-team home meet

Ware County swept the girls’ and boys’ titles here Thursday in a six-team home meet.

The Lady Gators clipped runner-up Effingham County by six points. Ware County finished with 201 points (five first-place wins) and was followed by the Lady Rebels (195), Brantley County (52), Savannah High (34), McIntosh County Academy (26) and Bacon County (20).

The Gators racked up 214 points to outdistance Effingham County’s 161 points. Brantley County (84), MCA (83), Savannah (44) and Bacon County (5) rounded out the field.

Isaiah Grayer’s school-record 13-foot height in the pole vault event highlighted Ware County’s eight first-place wins.

Girls’ meet

Winning for the Lady Gators were Kiyoko Ward (17:32) in the 3,200-meter event, Charlacia Jones (16’7.75”) in the long jump, Jada Evans (34’1.5’) in the triple jump, Destiny Finney (34’5”) in the shot put and the 4x800m relay team (13:17).

Finishing in the runner-up slot were Jada Conaway (12.92 sec.) in the 100m, Amaria Dukes (1:06.04) in the 400m, Kas Jackson (1:06.79) in the 300m hurdles, Natalie Patterson (4’8”) in the high jump, Shidaviona Washington (15’8”) in the long jump, Shardell Vickers in both the discus (93’3”) and shot put (33’), the 4x100m relay team (50.47 sec.), 4x200m relay team (1:50.73) and 4x400m relay team (4:47.05).

Placing third were Shakia Lane (28.14 sec.) in the 200m, Alexis Lane (1:08.93) in the 400m and Kiyoko Ward (7:32) in the 1,600m.

Finishing fourth were KeMya Crowley (15’2”) in the long jump, Lailani Carson (30’2.5”) in the triple jump, Jada Evans in the shot put (31’6.5”) and fifth in the discus (79’7”).

Recording sixth-place finishes were India Brinson (13.43 sec.) in the 100, Charmaine Farrell (1:13.36) in the 400m, Kiyoko Ward (3:32.98) in the 800m, Kasi Jackson (29.96 sec.) in the 100m hurdles and Destiny Finney (73’9”) in the discus.

Izzy Griffis was seventh (3:43.09) in the 800m. KeMya Crowley ran to an eighth-place showing (13.55 sec.) in the 100m.

Finishing 11th were Rihanna Bolds (30.88 sec.) in the 200m and Cami Barnes (23’6.5”) in the shot put. Susana Coronado- Sanchez (22’6.5”) was 12th in the shot put Cami Barnes (49’4”) finished 13th in the discus with Quamari Christian 14th in both the discus (47’4”) and shot put (19’1”). Grabbing first-place finishes outside of Grayer’s performance for the Gators were Ja’khi White in both the 110m hurdles (17.45 sec.) and 300m hurdles (43.68 sec.), Adarius Brown (6’5”) in the high jump, Savion Love (19’6”) in the long jump, Uriah Benefield (44’) in the shot put, the 4x200m relay team (1:33.61) and the 4x800m relay team (12:34.03).

Posting second-place finishes were Ja’Vonni Miller (11.22 sec.) in the 100m, Wesley Frye (13:06) in the 3,200m, Savion Love (18.82 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, David Muchison (11’) in the pole vault and the 4x100m relay team (44.38 sec.).

Placing third were Rykeil Kitchen (11.57 sec.) in the 100m, Tayshaun Franklin (23.87 sec.) in the 200m, Laith Lairsey (13:41.93) in the 3,200m, Dallas Vinson (19.69 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Ja’Quavious Owens (48.88 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Davion Jones (5’8”) in the high jump and Da’Marion Zaners (10’) in the pole vault.

Logging fourth-place finishes were Davion Jones (11.59 sec.) in the 100m, Bryce Baldwin in both the long jump (18’11”) and triple jump (41’4”), and Teshaun Wilson (95’) in the discus.

Jaylen Studivent (37’2”) finished fifth in the shot put. Finishing sixth were Zion Sutton (2:28) in the 800m, Hayden Clement (5:53.56) in the 1,600m, Savion Love (37’5”) in the triple jump and Javonte’ Evans (92’2”) in the discus.

Daniels Tripp (5’4”) placed seventh in the high jump. Recording eigthplace finishes were Brock Payne (6:09.62) in the 1,600m and Cameron King (16’2”) in the long jump.

Finishing 11th were Kendran Blue (1:08.86) in the 400m and Jermell Terry (2:57.46) in the 800m. Jason Bacon (25’5”) placed 14th in the shot put.
