Gator jayvee thinclads third in Lowndes meet

VALDOSTA — Ware County’s underclassmen Gator thinclads posted a third-place finish here Wednesday in the 7th annual Hiram Johnson Underclassman Invitational hosted by Lowndes High School.

The host Vikings won the March 26 eight-team event by six points over Thomas County Central, 133.5 to 127.5. The Yellow Jackets were followed by Ware County (107.75), Cairo (87.75), Valdosta (78.25), Coffee (59.5), Scintilla Charter Academy of Valdosta (22.75) and Bradwell Institute (2).

Jermaine Strickland (17.80 seconds) posted Ware County’s lone first-place finish winning the 110-meter hurdles.

Finishing second were Lojuan Blue (22.70) in the 200m and Brayten Hood (5:13.10) in the 1,600m. Placing third were Brock Payne (5:26.40) in the 1,600m, Teshaun Wilson (101’9”) in the discus and the 4x200m relay team (1:35.80).

Recording fourthplace finishes were Joshua Smith (5:29.60) in the 1,600m, Savion Love (18’) in the long jump, Dominique Mackey (39’9”) in the shot put, the 4x100m relay team (45.60 sec.) and the 4x400m relay team (3:59.60).

Copping fifth-place finishes were Rykeil Kitchen (11.50 sec.) in the 100m, Brayten Hood (2:18.10) in the 800m, Dallas Vinson (19.90 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Davion Jones (5’8”) in the high jump and Savion Love (37’) in the triple jump.

Posting sixth-places finishers were Ja’Quavious Owens in the 200m (23.30 sec.) and the high jump (5’6”), Jac’Quavion Taylor (58.20 sec.) in the 400m 400m, Brock Payne (2:18.40) in the 800m and Jaylen Studivent (38’9”) in the shot put.

Logging seventh-place finishes were Jalondi O’Hara (11.70 sec.) in the 100m and Lojuan Blue (17’5”) in the long jump. Finishing eighth were Michael Hayes (59.70 sec.) in the 400m, Zion Sutton (2:26.20) in the 800m, Jermaine Strickland (48.30 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Daniel Tripp (5’4”) in the high jump and Uriah Benefield (35’1”) in the shot put.

Ma’siyer McKoy (17’) was ninth in the long jump and 10th in the 400m (1:00.90). Dallas Vinson and Ja’Quavious Owens tied for 10th in the 300m hurdles (49.60 sec.).

Jameer Barkley (63’4”) placed 11th in the discus, Rykeil Kitchen (25 sec.) was 14th in the 200m and Davion Jones (12.10 sec.) finished 15th in the 100m.
