ALMA — James Shelton “Jabber” Lee passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 after an extended illness.
Lee is the son of the late Eldridge Lee and Gwendolyn Taylor Starling. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Maloy and Odessa Taylor; and aunt Wera Howell.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rhonda Lee; four daughters, Kelly (David) Joslyn of Bishop,

Ga., Carrie Lee (Copie) of Savannah, Cassie Price of Alma and Brittany (Billy) Lee of Hawkinsville; one step-daughter Cristina (Clay) Box of Atkinson; two brothers Tony (Rhonda) Lee of Alma and Perry (Marsha) Starling of Alma; one sister, Tammie (Jay) Hayden of Livingston, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Lee’s Chapel Church Pastor Jimmy Miles, Pastor R.B. Gaskins and Pastor Shane Howell officiating.
Interment followed at High Bluff Cemetery in Brantley County.
Active pallbearers were James Stewart, Hugh Beasley, Edward Padgett, Hipp Boatright, Cordie Rigby, Kevin Eason, Leonardo Badillo and Terry Miles.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Lee, Jerry Sweat, Ricky Taylor, Andy Wade and Neil Boatright.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
