HOBOKEN — James Michael “Mike” Mercier, 70 of Hoboken, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Satilla Hospice House in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born in Nahunta, Mercier’s parents were James William Mercier and Cordie Pauline Baker Mercier. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Paula Kay Mercier.
Mercier served his community for 45 years as a deputy with the Brantley County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Williams Mercier; his son and daughter-in-law, Bubba Mercier (Christy); his daughter and son-inlaw, Tonya Mercier Crosby (Bengi), all of Hoboken; four grandchildren, Colt Crosby (Olivia), Aden Crosby (Jinsey), Grant Crosby and Cole Mercier; one great grandchild, Grayson Westhafer and one on the way; one brother, Charles Raggland, of Dahlonega, Ga.; and one niece and her spouse, Sherri Mc-Cormick (Tommy) of Boyce, La.; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 2, 2025) at 10:30 a.m., at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ray McMillan and Rev. Steve Beal officiating.
Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery.
