WAYCROSS — Brantley County High School’s track teams each finished third here Thursday in a fiveteam meet at Ware County High School.
Ware County swept the March 27 girls’ and boys’ titles. The Lady Gators clipped runner-up Effingham County by six points.
Ware County finished with 201 points (five first-place wins) and was followed by the Lady Rebels (195), Brantley County (52), Savannah High (34), McIntosh County Academy (26) and Bacon County (20).
The Lady Herons’ Mallory Crosby and Mailey Thigpen provided the lone first-place wins. Crosby finished atop the 300-meter hurdles event with a time of 54.23 seconds. Thigpen captured the discus event with a throw of 96 feet.
The Gators racked up 214 points to outdistance Effingham County’s 161 points. Brantley County (84), MCA (83), Savannah (44) and Bacon County (5) rounded out the field.
Evinrude Green claimed the Herons’ lone title winning the 3,200m event with a time of 13:02.23.
Girls’ meet
Klara Barnes finished runner-up in the 1,600m race (6:31) and third in the 800m (2:56.08). Briar Cothern (20.76 sec.) also recorded a third-place showing in the 100m hurdles.
Finishing fifth were Sarah Trusty (22.95 sec.) in the 100m hurdles and Makayla Dixon (31’5”) in the shot put. The 4x100m relay team (58.09 sec.) placed sixth.
Sara Musgrove (62’9”) finished eighth in the discus. Recording ninth-place finishes were Briar Cothern (11’6”) in the long jump and Sarah Trusty (62’2”) in the discus.
Makayla Dixon (11’1.25”) was 10th in the long jump. Posting 13th-place finishes were Khloe Chancelor (14.88 sec.) in the 100m and Sara Musgrove (20’2”) in the shot put Notching 14th-place finishes were Mallory Crosby (15.37 sec.) in the 100m and Sarah Trusty (19’1”) in the shot put.
Boys’ meet
Recording second-place finishes were Hayze Evans (4:55.44) in the 1,600m and Malachi Saunders in both the high jump (6’) and long jump (19’3”).
Finishing third were Dayton Byrd and Nathan Howell (5’8”) in the high jump, and the 4x400m relay team (3:57.19).
Placing fourth were Hayze Evans (2:17.29) in the 800m and Holton Depratter in both the 110m hurdles (20.91 sec.) and 300m hurldes (50.28 sec.).
Devein Saunders (38’6”) finished fifth in the triple jump. Recording sixth-place showings were Jayden Simmons (5’6”) in the high jump and the 4x100m relay team (46.74 sec.).
Logging seventh-place finishes were Wiley Ray (1:04.46) in the 400m, Evinrude Green (6:09.41) in the 1,600m and Daesean Hutcheson (17’1.5”) in the long jump.
Eighth-place finishes were recorded by T.J. Kennedy (5’2”) in the high jump, Daesean Hutcheson (35’9.5”) in the triple jump and Travon Baker (33’6”) in the shot put.
Placing ninth were Devein Saunders (11.76 sec.) in the 100m, Zayne Smith (28.40 sec.) in the 200m, Zayne Smith (15’4”) in the long jump and Holton Depratter (34’5”) in the triple jump.
Finishing 10th were Malachi Saunders (11.94 sec.) in the 100m, T.J. Kennedy (28.62 sec.) in the 200m and Carter Lentz (2:53.08) in the 800m.
Cayden Hill (71’6”) placed 11th in the discus. Finishing 12th were Dayton Byrd (12.90 sec.) in the 100m and Daylan Lawrence (31’5”) in the shot put.
Placing 13th were Hayze Evans (1:13.50) in the 400m and Bryan Chevalier (3:10.85) in the 800m. Jaszavin Wade was 15th in both the discus (60’1”) and the shot put (24’2”).
