Ware County’s Lady Gators followed a third-place showing at the Lady Blue Devil Invitational with a dual match victory during action last week.
The Lady Gators participated Monday, March 17 in Tifton at the 14-team Lady Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Tift County at Spring Hill Country Club.
Class 6A Lowndes carded a 249 team score to clip the tournament host and regionmate Lady Blue Devils’ 252. Ware County was next at 274.
The rest of the field included Class 5A Houston County (280), Class 5A Coffee (283), Class A DI Jeff Davis (290), Class A DI Worth County (290), Lowndes II (294), Class 5A Lee County (297), Class 4A Perry (303), Class A DII Seminole County (305), Class 5A Veterans (307), Class 6A Colqutt County (308) and Class 5A Thomas County Central (313).
Coffee’s Hannah Powell led the 60-player field with a two-over-par score of 74. Catherine Odom of Lowndes was the only other golfer to break 80 shooting 78.
Anniston Grantham paced Ware County shooting 46-43-89 with a birdie tying Lee County’s Bailey Lloyd for 11th.
Eevy Griffin posted a 46-44-90 to tie host Tift County’s Riley Williams for 13th. Kate Thomas finished
18th with a 47-48-95.
Annslee Kate Grantham finished in a three-way tie for
20th after carding a 49-49-98. Aurie Taylor of Jeff Davis and Miley Hughes of Lowndes II also shot 98.
Lily Peters posted a 53-48-101 to finished tied for 31st with Colqitt County’s Addyson Giddens.
Ware County downed Brunswick 136-161 in a March
19 9-hole match. Anniston Grantham was low medalist with a two-over-par score of 38. Griffin finished with a
48 and Thomas added a 50 for the team score.
Also participating in the match were Lilly Livingston
(57), Ryleigh Simpson and Peters (58 apiece), and Onnie Peacock (63).
The Lady Gators teed up Monday, March 24 in the Lady Viking Classic hosted by Lowndes at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. They played Tuesday, March 25 in the Richmond Hill Wildcat Invitational at the Richmond Hill Golf Club.
