WCHS thinclads dominate five-team home meet

Ware County High School’s track teams ran away from the field to capture Tuesday’s five-team home meet.

The Lady Gators piled up 276 points winning nine events. Ware County was followed by Clinch County (110.5), Wayne County (91), Savannah High

(77.5) and Johnson-Savannah (64).

The Gators turned seven first-place finishes into 237.5 points to easily outdistance Wayne County (141.5). The Yellow Jackets were followed by Johnson- Savannah (107.5), Clinch County

(51.5) and Savannah (31).

Girls’ meet

Capturing events for the Lady Gators were India Brinson (12.96 seconds) in the 100-meter, Kiyoko Ward (16:25) in the 3,200m, KeMya Crowley (15’7”) in the long jump, Jada Evans (35’4.5”) in the triple jump, Shardell Vickers

(104’6”) in the discus, Destiny Finney

(34’9”) in the shot put, the 4x100m relay team (50.85 sec.) and the 4x200m relay team (1:49.26).

Finishing second were Jada Conaway

(13 sec.) in the 100m, Lailani Carson in the 200m (29.01 sec.) and 400m

(1:07.61), Kiyoko Ward (7:51) in the

1,600m, Nadya Ellis (52.74 sec.) in the

300m hurdles, Charlacia Jones (15’5”) in the long jump, Shardell Vickers

(34’3”) in the shot put and the 4x400m relay team (4:55.36).

Placing third were India Brinson

(30.35 sec.) in the 200m, Shaliah Davis

(4’8”) in the high jump, Lailani Carson

(31’5”) in the triple jump, Jada Evans in the discus (82’3.5”) and shot put

(32’2”).

Recording fourth-place finishes were KeMya Crowley (13.44 sec.) in the

100m, Charmaine Farrell (1:09.05) in the 400m, Nadya Ellis (20.87 sec.) in the 100m hurdles, Kasi Jackson

(1:07.16) in the 300m hurdles and Destiny Finney (59’1”) in the discus.

Logging fifth-place finishes were Alexis Lane (1:09.57) in the 400m and Kiyoko Ward (3:29) in the 800m. Finishing sixth were Amaria Dukes

(1:10.30) in the 400m, Natalie Paterson

(4’5”) in the high jump and Shidaviona Washington (13’4”) in the long jump.

Placing seventh were Izzy Griffis (4:22) in the 800m, Kasi Jackson (23.42 sec.) in the 100m hurdles and Cami Barnes (51’6”) in the discus.

Recording eighth-place finishes were Quamari Christian (42’6”) in the discus and Cami Barnes (20’3”) in the shot put. Susana Coronado-Sanchez (39’2.5”) placed ninth in the discus. Quamari Christian (17’) finished 12th in the shot put.

Boys’ meet

Posting first-place finishes for the Gators were Brayten Hood (5:19) in the 1,600m, Adarius Brown (6-foot), Isaiah Grayer (12’6”) in the pole vault, the 4x100m relay team (44.36 sec.), 4x200m relay team (1:33.17), 4x400m relay team (3:53) and the 4x800m relay team (9:38.80).

Placing second were Tayshaun Franklin (23.60 sec.) in the 200m, Brayten Hood (2:17) in the 800m, Ja’khi White (43.01 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Davion Jones (5’8”) in the high jump, Bryce Baldwin (40’11”) in the triple jump, David Muchison (10’6”) in the pole vault and Damarious Dennis (120’4”) in the discus.

Recording third-place finishes were Jalondi O’Hara (11.77 sec.) in the 100m, Jaden McKelvin (57.33 sec.) in the 400m, Wesley Frye (13:09) in the 3,200m, Ja’khi White (17.44 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Bryce Baldwin (20’5”) in the long jump, Jaden McKelvin (9-foot) in the pole vault, Javonte’ Evans (112’7”) in the discus and Javonte’ Evans (38’4”) in the shot put.

Finishing fourth were Theo Hawkins (24.43 sec.) in the 200m, Darius Lawence (57.54 sec.) in the 400m, Laith Lairsey (13:18) in the 3,200m, Jermaine Strickland (18.33 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Ja’Quavious Owens (48.75 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Daniel Tripp (5’4”) in the high jump, Ziacheas White (19’1”) in the long jump, Savion Love (36’1”) in the triple jump, Da’Marion Zanders (8’6”) in the pole vault, and Uriah Benefield (37’8”) in the shot put.

Logging fifth-place finishes were Ja’Quavious Owens (24.77 sec.) in the 200m, Zion Sutton (2:31) in the 800m, Joshua Smith (5:36) in the 1,600m, Jermaine Strickland (49.03 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Laith Lairsey (7’6”) in the pole vault and Teshaun Wilson (106’6”) in the discus.

Finishing sixth were Brock Payne (5:54) in the 1,600m, Lojuan Blue (52.79 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Savion Love (18’5”) in the long jump and Dominique Mackey (32’8”) in the shot put.

Placing seventh were Joshua Smith (2:36) in the 800m and Damarious Dennis (32’6”) in the shot put. Kentavious Black (12.23 sec.) was eighth in the 100m.
