Steven A. Daniels was a multi-talented athlete who excelled in four different sports during his high school career from 2001 to 2004.

He played varsity football and ran track for three years, competed in varsity basketball for two years, and played varsity soccer for one year. Though he demonstrated remarkable athletic ability in all four sports, he truly found his home as a quarterback for the Gators.

Known as a “field general” by his teammates, Daniels’ leadership on the field was unmatched — no situation ever seemed too big for him. Those who watched him play often remarked on his elusiveness, describing him as one of the most agile quarterbacks they had ever seen. His ability to escape pressure and complete a play was often described as mind-boggling by teammates and fans alike.

Daniels’ impressive performances on the field did not go unnoticed by opponents either. In 2002, he was named all-Region First Team and was honored as the All-Area Co-Offensive Player of the Year in football. Additionally, he played a key role in helping the Gators’ soccer team win the region championship.

Daniels continued his outstanding high school football career in 2003, leading the Gators to their first region championship and 10-win season since the school’s merger with Waycross High.

His remarkable play earned him numerous accolades including All-Region, All-Area, All-State First Team, and the prestigious titles of Football’s All-Region and All-Area Player of the Year.

Some of Daniels’ fondest memories came during his sophomore year. He started on the varsity football team and had the opportunity to play alongside his brother, C.J. Harris, and his cousin, Michael Patterson.

His senior year was equally special, marked by winning the region championship, achieving a 10win season, defeating Valdosta, and becoming the first Gator quarterback to be named to First Team All-State.

Daniels credits coach Sean Pender and coach William “Dip” Davis for believing in his abilities, supporting him, and trusting him to play quarterback despite others’ doubts. Coach Pender once said, “I never had any doubt that Daniels would have done great at any position, but he was a born leader and had all the intangibles necessary to play the quarterback position. He certainly proved to everyone that he was the man for the job.”

After high school, Daniels continued his football journey by playing one year as a receiver at Hutchinson Community College and another year at Carson-Newman before ending his playing career.

Daniels is married to Tamira Daniels. They are the proud parents of Zackery Farley, Nehemiah Daniels, Kayden Satcher Williams and Zoey Daniels. The Daniels currently reside in Commerce, Ga., where he owns and operates Bloodline Logistics Trucking Company.

He is the beloved son of Mrs. Debra Daniels Taylor and the grandson of Mrs. Sandra Daniels. His siblings are C.J. Harris, Amone Daniels, Tyler Rawls, Kasi Gottie and Dominique Harris.

Daniels was a force on the football field and an accomplished athlete in multiple sports.
