HOBOKEN — Mr. Marvin Lee Alford, 83, died early Friday morning, March 21, 2025 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Alford was born September 4, 1941 in Four Oaks, N.C., to the late Jacob Lawrence Alford and Bonnie Moore Alford. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school to pursue his dream job as a jet aircraft mechanic.
Alford retired as Master Sargeant after 24 years of service. From 1961 to 1985, he served in two tours of Vietnam, and he spent time in England, Spain, Germany and many other countries. After his military career, he worked at Waycross Molding, Champion and Walmart Tire & Lube.
In addition to his parents, Alford was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Etheridge; and his brother, Leon Alford.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice Louella Johns Alford of Hoboken; one son, John Alford (Pam) of Waycross; two grandchildren, Kelly Locklear (Caleb) of Waycross, and Allison Bruchie (David) of Nahunta; great grandchildren, Brianna, Ava, Grayson and Eli Locklear; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at today (Wednesday, March 26, 2025) at 11 a.m., at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
