Lady Bears win by 21 against Frederica

ST. SIMMONS ISLAND — Mackenzie Connell carded a oneunder- par round of 35 leading Pierce County to a 21-shot victory here at Sea Palms Golf Club over host Frederica Academy.

The Lady Bears were playing their second match of the season against the Lady Knights and for the first time since March 4. PCHS was slated to participate in the March 15 Maple Ridge Junior Tournament in Columbus, which was cancelled due to incoming weather which ravaged the state.

“Sea Palms is a really nice course that is in great condition and the weather was perfect,” said head coach Stuart Stipe. “The fairways are tight and the greens are big. With only one player having seen the course, it forced the other players to be disciplined off the tee and practice course management.”

Pierce County posted a team score of 117 to beat Frederica Academy’s 138.

Belle Sinclair followed Connell’s lead with a round of 40. Chloe Lynn’s 42 finished out the team score. Mollie Kate Dixon and Brooke Dixon contributed scores of 44 and 45 respectively.

The Lady Bears played Monday, March 24 in the Lady Viking Invitational in Valdosta hosted by Lowndes at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
