A Waycross man was seriously injured in a roll over accident on U.S. Highway 84 Sunday morning, March 16.

According to an accident report by the Blackshear Police Department, Raymond Stanley Sirmons, 82, was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 east on U.S. Highway 84 near Oak Ridge Circle about 8:12 a.m. Sunday when he apparently lost control, crossed all lanes of traffic and left the roadway.

Sirmons’s truck hit a culvert at the entrance of Wilson’s Bike Shop, causing the vehicle to go airborne. The truck then began to roll, hitting a wooden fence and coming to an uncontrolled rest on all four wheels, on the property of Common Sense Housing. The truck traveled 385 feet before coming to rest.

Sirmons was transported to Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross by Pierce County EMS. No information was available about his condition at press time.

Officer Mac Callahan of the Blackshear Police Department investigated the accident.
