John McCall Wheat, 69, of Cochran, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, March 14, 2025, following a short illness.
Born August 20, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a son of the late Osler Chason and Cathryn Higginbotham Wheat. He grew up in Jacksonville and then moved to Statesboro to attend Georgia Southern University. Following college, he moved to Cochran where he owned and operated Cochran Bait and Tackle for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Miriam.

Survivors include his two siblings, Mary Alice Shelton, Blackshear and William Wheat (wife Sharon), Jacksonville; half-brother, Robert Wheat (wife Marilyn), Eufaula, AL; 3 nephews, David Wheat (wife Michelle), Kevin Strickland (wife Yvett) and Brian Strickland (wife Frankie) and several great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
