BEARVILLE — Pierce County entertained three schools in a four-team home meet Thursday afternoon.
Class A schools Atkinson County and Brantley County joined Class 4A Wayne County for the March 13 meet.
The Lady Bears garnered six first-place finishes in scoring 45 points to garner the win. They were followed by the Lady Yellow Jackets (38), the Lady Herons (34) and the Lady Rebels (9).
The Bears accumulated nine first-place winners to score 62 points. The Yellow Jackets were second with 37 points followed by the Herons (28) and Rebels (20).
Girls’ meet
Capturing events for the Lady Bears were Layla Chandel (1:07.23) in the 400-meter, Kora Good in both the high jump (4’10”) and long jump (15’7.5”), Caren Drew in the discus (98’4”) and shot put (33’9.5”), and the 4x400m relay team (4:59.70).
Finishing runner-up were Jose'ziah James (1:08.66) in the 400m, Dominque Hightower (19.48 seconds) in the 100m hurdles, Zanyria Monroe (53.65 sec.) in the 300m hurdles and the 4x200m relay team (1:55.10).
Placing third were Layla Chandel (29.21 seconds) in the 200m and Saharah Minott (30’1.5”) in the shot put.
Recording fourth-place finishes were Azalea Mobley in both the 200m (29.26 sec.) and long jump (13’8.5”), Ana Llamas- Diaz in both the 800m (3:11.10) and 1,600m (7:20. 82), Zanyria Monroe (4’2”) in the high jump,.
Saharah Minott (68’2”) finished fifth in the discus. Posting sixth-place finishes were Jose'ziah James (30.34 sec.) in the 200m and Patience Smith (12’3.5”) in the long jump.
Rhondale Johnson (1:38.37) was seventh in the 400m with Kierstin Jones (24’2”) eighth in the shot put.
Boys’ meet
Posting first-place finishes for the Bears were Omar Jinks (10.91 sec.) in the 100m, Sam Braddock (23.95 sec.) in the 200m, Joe Drew (52.62 sec.) in the 400m, Braden McKendree (48.85 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Amir McKenzie (5’11”) in the high jump, Jordan Williams (40’8.5”) in the shot put, the 4x200m relay team (1:32.33), the 4x400m “A” relay team (3:57.45) and the 4x800m relay team (9:48.90) Capturing runner-up finishes were Omar Jinks in both the 200m (24.29 sec.) and long jump (19’6”), Micah Bryant (2:26.64) in the 800m, Breck Benton (5:31.04) in the 1,600m and Carson Hope (100’10”) in the discus.
Placing third were Joeshua McBride (57.78 sec.) in the 400m and the 4x100m “A’ relay team (46.40 sec.), Notching fourth-place finishes were Naledge Fuller (24.43 sec.) in the 200m, Amir Mckenzie (58.13 sec.) in the 400m, Landon Rainey (14:36.89) in the 3,200m, Joeshua McBride (18’7”) in the long jump, Jordan Williams (87’6”) in the discus, K’don Lashley (37’6.5”) in the shot put and the 4x400m “B” relay team (4:05.51), Finishing fifth were Sam Braddock (11.55 sec.) in the 100m, Noah Delaney (25.08 sec.) in the 200m, DeMontre Clark (59.32 sec.) in the 400m, Terry Gibbs (5’2”) in the high jump, and the 4x100m “B” relay team (47.59 sec.).
Recording sixth-place finishes were Naledge Fuller (18’4”) in the long jump, Jah Evans (11.63 sec.) in the 100m and De-Montre Clark (25.17 sec.) in the 200m.
Posting seventh-place finishes were Naledge Fuller (11.70 sec.) in the 100m, Terry Gibbs (1:00.91) in the 400m and Coleman Lee (5:54.35) in the 1,600m.
Noah Delaney (11.73 sec.) was eighth in the 100m, Finishing ninth were Yontareon Moore (1:05.35) in the 400m and Logan Spivy (27’11”) in the discus. Yontareon Moore (26.69) placed 10th in the 200m.
