Pierce County’s STARs for 2024-2025 school year were recognized by the Board of Education at its regular meeting last week. STAR student Walker Sergent (left) is shown with his STAR teacher, Brandon Carlson. Sergent scored a 1,440 out of a possible 1,600 score on the SAT. The STAR student is chosen annually based on academic excellence and attaining the highest SAT score among the senior class. Sergent is the son of David and Celesta Sergent. He selected Carlson as his STAR teacher, a unique honor since Carlson taught Sergent math in the seventh grade. Carlson has since been promoted to an assistant principal’s position at the middle school.
