Ware County High School senior Joy Lin was chosen Waycross Exchange Club Youth of the Month for January, Lin is the daughter of Dan Chen and Li Lin. She ranks fourth in the WCHS Class of 2025.

The honoree’s activities at WCHS include membership in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) where she was the 2022-23 vice president of membership, ’23-24 chapter president, ’23-24 Region 2 vice president, ’23-24 social media state ambassador, and the ’24-25 Georgia FBLA state secretary.

In the Health Professionals of America (HOSA) Lin was chapter president in both 2023-24 and 24-25. In the National Beta Club, she was 23-24 vice president of Community Projects and Public Relations and is treasurer this school year.

Among 21st Century Leaders, Lin was 2023-24 State Youth Ambassador, and also a member of WCHS Student Council in ’23-24.

Lin has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2023. She also has been a member of the Technology Student Association (TSA) and the Robotics Club since 2024.

Her honors at WCHS include first place in Sales Presentation at the 2024 FBLA Region Leadership Conference, eighth place in Sales Presentation at the 2024 FBLA State Leadership Conference. At the 2023 FBLA Region Leadership Conference, Lin was first in Introduction to Social Media Strategies as well as Introduction to Business Procedures, and runner-up in Introduction to Business Communication.

She had a fifth place in Introduction to Social Media Strategies at the 2023 FBLA State Leadership Conference. Lin also won the Statesmen Award at the 2022 and ’24 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference.

At the BETA National Convention in 2023 she placed first in “Lead Outside the Box” and fourth in Service-Learning Showcase.

In 2023, she was recognized by the College Board National Rural & Small-Town for academic achievement and is a College Board AP Scholar Recipient and 21st Century Leaders Georgia Youth Leader finalist.

Lin has been involved in several community activities including Waycross Bank & Trust Junior Board Member and Board Secretary. She is Founder and CEO of Kits for Kids. She also was the event organizer for the BETA Reaching STARS and served on the Hospice Satilla Junior Board of Directors and is an Asian Passion Program tutor.

Lin has worked at Number 1 Wok since 2019, and also volunteers at Memorial Satilla Health.

After graduation this spring, she said she plans to attend Georgia Tech to pursue a degree in Psychology on a pre-med track to eventually become a doctor.
