Ware County’s boys’ track team captured the opening five-team home meet of the season with the Lady Gators finishing third.
The Gators piled up 201 points to outdistance runner-up Bradwell Institute (158). Valdosta (81), Clinch County (71) and Jeff Davis (65) rounded out the field.
The Lady Yellow Jackets clipped Bradwell Institute 128-127 for the win in the girls’ meet. The Lady Gators finished with 103 points. Valdosta (88) and Clinch County (28) also participated.
Destiny Finney recorded the Lady Gators’ lone first-place finish winning the shot put event with a heave of 32’9.5”.
Placing second were India Brinson (13.38 seconds) in the 100-meter, Nadya Ellis (19.47 sec.) in the 100m hurdles, Kiyoko Ward (16:33) in the 3,200m run, Shaliah Davis (4’8”) in the high jump, KeMya Crowly (15’6.75”) in the long jump and Jada Evans (34’6.5”) in the triple jump.
KeMya Crowley (13.47 sec.) was third in the 100m. Finsishing fourth were Nadya Ellis (1:06.78) in the 300m hurdles and Natalie Paterson (21.38 sec.) in the 100m hurdles.
Charmaine Farrell (1:09.98) placed fifth in the 400m, Kasi Jackson (1:15.42) in the 300m hurdles, Kiyoko Ward (8:12) in the 1,600m run and Jada Evans (30’.5”) in the shot put.
Finishing sixth were Lailani Carson (1:11.65) in the 400m, Charmaine Farrell (22.35 sec.) in the 100m hurdles and Shidaviona Washington (11’4”) in the long jump. Destiny Finney (62’6.5”) was seventh in the discus.
Placing eighth were Amaria Dukes (1:20.41) in the 400m and Jada Evans (62’3.5”) in the discus. Heaven Orange (1:20.52) finished ninth in the 400m.
Cami Barnes (23’10.5”) was 10th in the shot and 11th in the discus (43’11). Quamari Christian (29’7”) placed 13th in the discus and 14th in the shot put (12’7.5”).
The Gators captured seven events led by Jamar Birden’s wins in the discus (152’6”) and shot put (48’2”). He was joined by Ja’Vonni Miller (11.09 sec.) in the 100m, Brayten Hood (5:15.43) in the 1,600m, Zion Sutton (2:25) in the 800m, Isaiah Grayer (11’6”) in the pole vault, and the 4x800m relay team (9:35.38).
Placing second were Ja’khi White (17.82 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Adarius Brown (5’8”) in the high jump, David Muchison (10’) in the pole vault, Cameron King (41’9”) in the triple jump and the 4x100m relay team (44.23 sec.)
Finishing third Ziacheas White (11.25) in the 100m, Ja’khi White (43.69) in the 300m hurdles, Cameron King (19’9”) in the long jump and Bryce Baldwin (41’4”) in the triple jump.
Posting fourth-place finishes were Laith Lairsey (13:36.64) in the 3,200m, Hayden Clement (5:39.31) in the 1,600m, Bryce Baldwin (5’4”) in the high jump, Uriah Benefield (36’9.5”) in the shot put and the 4x200m relay team (1:37.42).
Recording fifth-place showings were Da’Marion Zanders (5:51.31) in the 1,600m, Savion Love (40’8”) in the triple jump and Teshaun Wilson (110’10”) in the discus.
Placing sixth were Rykeil Kitchen (11.56 sec.) in the 100m, Charles Sams (2:51) in the 800m, Jaylen Studivent (33’5”) in the shot and the 4x100m relay team (47.16 sec.), Seventh-place finishes were recorded by Davion Jones (11.57 sec.) in the 100m, Ja’Quavious Owens (48.10 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Brock Payne (6:01) in the 1,600m, Jermell Terry (3:21) in the 800m, Bryce Baldwin (17’6”) in the long jump, Damarious Dennis (99’8”) in the discus and Dominique Mackey (31’10”) in the shot.
Finishing eighth were Jaden McKelvin (56.57 sec.) in the 400m, Jermaine Strickland (19.67 sec.) in the 110m hurdles, Savion Love (17’2”) in the long jump and Teshaun Wilson (30’9”) in the shot put.
Uriah Benefield (89’8”) placed ninth in the discus and Jaden McKelvin (36’6”) was 10th in the triple jump. Recording 11th-place finishes were Dominique Mackey (59.11 sec.) in the 400m and Jermaine Strickland (58.36 sec.) in the 300m hurdles. Jason Bacon (25’3”) finished 14th in the shot put.
