ATLANTA — Brantley County High School senior Thomas Crowley earned a spot to the HOSA International Leadership Conference after winning first-place at the state level.
Crowley received a gold medal in the Sports Medicine category at the 2025 HOSA State Leadership Conference, held Thursday thru Saturday, March 6-8. More than 5,000 students gathered in Atlanta to compete in various healthcare competitive events.
He will compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Tennessee June 18-21.
Competing against some of the best and brightest students from across the state, Crowley showcased exceptional skill, knowledge and dedication in the highly competitive Sports Medicine event.
The event tests students’ understanding of the human body, injury prevention, rehabilitation and emergency procedures in sports settings. The category consists of several rounds including written exams and practical demonstrations of sports-related injuries and treatments.
Crowley was excited to take home the top honor, especially after months of rigorous preparation. This victory not only highlights his talent, but also underscores the growing influence of HOSA (Future Health Professionals) and CTAE healthcare science pathways in shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders.
In total, eight representatives from BCHS competed. Healthcare Science Instructor and HOSA Advisor Jenny Willis accompanied seniors Lila Adams and Crowley, juniors Clayton Barker, Satilla Highsmith and Madison Moseley, and sophomores Carlie Roberson and Amaya Petersen.
Roberson and Petersen qualified for the state competition by placing in the Top 5 in region for CPR/First Aid. Adams, HOSA President, competed in the Research Poster event in two rounds, advancing to the presentation round.
