Special to The Beacon
Brantley County Retired Educators Association members donated over 325 large-print materials (books, puzzles, writing utensils, etc.) during their February meeting.
The materials were distributed to the Brantley County Senior Center as well as BayView Nursing and Rehab. Administrators at both facilities expressed deep appreciation for the donations.
(A special 'shout-out' to the Brantley County Public Library, which donated a large amount of large print books!)
Also in our meeting, we were blessed to have a visit from Jacee Beth Thomas and her mother (and BCREA member) Beth Ann Thomas. In a VERY interesting and engaging discussion, they shared about Jacee's collision with a train, and all that has ensued since then. A highlight was when we were able to watch a recent video of Jacee barrel racing, which is an incredible feat (as one might say, 'against all odds!') considering what she has been though.
The BCREA has a very eventful meeting planned for this coming Friday, March 14th, at 10:30 AM in the Transportation Professional Learning Room (aka, 'bus barn'). A (no doubt VERY abbreviated) business meeting will follow a couple of guest speakers and an important presentation. ALL retired educators (and other education supporters!) are invited to attend!
