Winn invites community to ‘See You At The Library’ event

Editor, The Times:

Pierce County citizens of faith, are asked to please join together Saturday, August 5 to pray, sing and read a book of virtue at the Pierce County Public Library.  Many of you may remember the “See You at The Pole” events in the 90’s where communities would gather around school flag poles on a certain day and pray for God’s guidance and protection in our schools.  Now there is a national “See You at The Library” event August 5 where Christians across our great nation will be gathering at their local libraries to pray for God to guide us and restore us to His way within our libraries, school systems and academia in general.  It is a time to pray for the children in our communities who spend time learning at the library.

The national “See You at The Library” event is being organized by Brave Books and Kirk Cameron.  Their mission is to “turn our nation back to God and goodness.” They are “calling on all families who love God and love America to gather at our local public libraries August 5 to pray, sing and read Brave Books and other books of virtue. Imagine thousands of local public libraries filled by you and your friends, your pastors, your teachers and your local representatives on this date.”

We are thankful Mayor Keith Brooks, Sheriff Ramsey Bennett and beloved former library clerk Bertie Allen will be joining us to help read books and lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Local pastors will be there to lead us in prayer as well, Lord willing.  We are still looking for a group of young people who would like to lead us in singing “Amazing Grace” and “God Bless America”. If you have a youth group that feels led to do so, please email [email protected]

Please join us in praying and praising God together as a community! We are very blessed to live in a community that is still trying to remain moral and follow Jesus in a world that is turning away from morality and goodness. I am thankful for times like this where we can all come together to thank God for His blessings on us and to encourage one another in following Him.

See You At The Library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at the Pierce County Public Library, 785 College Ave., Blackshear.
