PCHS thinclads participate in five-team meet at Wayne Co.

JESUP — Pierce County’s Bears placed second and Lady Bears third here at the five-team Helen Willis Fluker Invitational hosted by Wayne County in blustery conditions Thursday.

The Bears totaled 140 points to trail Charlton County’s winning total of 170.5 in the March 6 meet. Host Wayne County (102), Savannah Arts Academy (101) and Brantley County (99.5) rounded out the field.

Savannah Arts Academy’s Lady Panthers captured the girls’ meet with 146 points. They were followed by Charlton County (141), PCHS (117), Brantley County (80) and the host Lady Yellow Jackets (75).

Boys’ meet

The Bears posted three individual firstplace finishes and won two of the four team relay events.

Individual winners were Omar Jinks (11.27 seconds) in the 100-meter event, Joe Drew (54.48 sec.) in the 400m and Jordan Williams (39’10”) in the shot put.

PCHS captured the 4x200m relay event with a time of 1:32.64. The 4x400m relay team recorded a time of 3:48.44.

Posting second-place finishes were Braden McKendree (46.93 sec.) in the 300m hurdles, Amir McKenzie (6-feet) in the high jump, Leland Williams (104’11”) in the discus, and the 4x800m relay team (10:02.03).

Placing third were Sam Braddock (12.06 sec.) in the 100m and Drew (24.32 sec.) in the 200m. Finishing fourth were Noah Delaney (1:01.68) in the 400m, Breck Benton (5:35.81) in the 1,600m and the 4x100m relay team (50.15 sec.).

Posting fifth-place finishes were Brandon Yepes (2:26.83) in the 800m, Landon Rainey (14:03.02) in the 3,200m and David Herring (58.75 sec.) in the 300m hurdles.

Recording sixth-place finishes were McKenzie (25.55 sec.) in the 200m, Micah Bryant (2:29.70) in the 800m and Carson Hope (83’3.5”) in the discus. Logging seventh-place showings were Coleman Lee (6:16.73) in the 1,600m and K’don Lashley (31’10”) in the shot put.

Girls’ meet

Three Lady Bears grabbed first-place laurels with Layla Chandel (1:07.48) winning the 400m, Kora Good (4’8”) taking the high jump and Caren Drew (33’9”) capturing the shot put.

Finishing second were Azalea Mobley (13.83 sec.) in the 100m, Zinaria Monroe (56.53 sec.) in the 300m hurdles an the 4x200m relay team (1:56.69).

Posting third-place finishes were Good (1:09.33) in the 400m, Drew (80’11”) in the discus, Saharah Minott (29’10”) in the shot put and the 4x400m relay team (4:56.06).

Recording fourth-place finishes were Jose’ziah James (30.32 sec.) in the 200m and Doninque Hightower (22.47 sec.) in the 100m hurdles. Zinaria Monroe (22.61 sec.) was fifth in the 100m hurdles.

Finishing sixth were Kristin Clark (14.76 sec.) in the 100m, Ana Llamas-Diaz (3:10.47) in the

800m, Starr Good

(59’10.5”) in the discus and Hightower (1:04.99) in the 300m. Registering seventh-place finishes were Patience Smith

(31.48 sec.) in the 200m and Llamas-Diaz (7:18.12) in the 1,600m.
