Business was interrupted Thursday afternoon, February 27 when a motorist accidently drove his vehicle through the front of Mama’s Kitchen & Store, said Waycross Police Department Capt. Benji Hersey, Patrol Section Commander. After leaving the business at 410 Harrison Street, Herman Lewis, 75, returned to his 2020 Toyota Corolla, which was in the parking lot. While preparing to leave, Lewis accidentally put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake causing him go forward and crash through the window on the left side of the building, Hersey said. Lewis wasn’t injured and none were reported for the few people inside the building at the time of the 2:07 p.m. incident. WPD Officer Chris Poole investigated the accident.
