Special to the WJH Two Center Elementary staff members were chosen Golden Achievement Award winners for February.
Bridgette White was the Classified honoree while Amanda Dixon was the Certified winner. White serves a dual role at the school — media center assistant and school counselor secretary. Dixon is a kindergarten teacher.
Principal Le Var Garner recognized both women at the February meeting of the Ware County Board of Education.
In introducing White, Garner said: “ ... She plays a crucial role in supporting students, teachers, and staff. In her position, she ensures that the media center operates smoothly, providing students with access to resources that enhance their learning experience. She helps manage library materials, assists students in finding books and research materials, and fosters a welcoming environment that encourages a love for reading.
“Additionally, she supports teachers by organizing educational resources, troubleshooting technology needs, and maintaining an orderly space for study and collaboration.”
The principal said White is equally adept in her other responsibility.
“ ... Bridgette plays a vital role in keeping the counseling department organized and accessible to students. She helps coordinate appointments, maintains records, and serves as a welcoming presence for students who need guidance or assistance,” Garner said.
“Her compassionate and professional approach ensures that the counseling office remains a place of support and comfort. ... When Center was without a full-time school counselor, she stepped up in every possible way to ensure that students still received the care and attention they needed. ... Her dedication ensured students did not feel the absence of a full-time counselor and that teachers continued to receive the support necessary for their classrooms.”
Garner said that was an example of her “aboveand- beyond” attitude.
“Bridgette White’s commitment to Center goes far beyond her job description. Her willingness to step in wherever needed and her dedication to the well-being of students and staff make her an invaluable part of the school community,” he said. “Whether it’s helping a student find the perfect book, assisting a teacher with classroom resources, or offering a listening ear, she embodies the true spirit of service and dedication.”
About Dixon, Garner said: “Amanda Dixon has shown remarkable adaptability and dedication in her first year as a teacher. Transitioning into the teaching profession can be challenging, yet Amanda has handled it with grace, resilience, and a strong commitment to her students,” the principal said. “She has quickly established a positive and engaging learning environment, building meaningful connections with her students while maintaining high expectations for their success. Her ability to adapt to new challenges and continuously grow as an educator demonstrates her passion for teaching and her unwavering dedication to her students.
“When a hurricane disrupted the school schedule and kept students at home, she took it upon herself to visit them and deliver treat bags. This thoughtful act not only lifted the spirits of her students during a difficult time, but also reinforced the strong bond she has built with them. ... Dixon’s first year as a teacher is a testament to her resilience, kindness, and passion for education. ... Her students are lucky to have her, and her future in teaching is undoubtedly bright.”
