Still got your 1980s mixtape?
You can relive all those old times — and the great music from back then — at this year’s Beats and Eats.
The annual Beats and Eats featuring Mixtape, a 1980s tribute band, is slated for 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, in Blackshear City Park.
Mixtape’s set list includes the biggest hits from artists and bands of the 1980s like Journey, Bon Jovi, Toto, Huey Lewis & The News, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, Mr. Mister, Chicago, Bryan Adams, The Outfield, Tears For Fears, Dire Straits, The Romantics, Poison, Night Ranger, A-ha, Yes, Glass Tiger, Bad English, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Loverboy and many more.
Local food vendors will be on hand offering concessions.
There is no admission charge for Beats and Eats, but locals can reserve a table (seats eight) for $300 via Main Street Blackshear’s Facebook page or by emailing [email protected] For more information, call Better Hometown Manager Bethany Strickland at (912) 590-2200. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair with them to the concert. No tents or pets will be allowed in the park and smoking and vaping will only be allowed in designated areas.
The City of Blackshear was awarded a Vibrant Communities grant by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) to assist with funding Beats and Eats.
