Bertie’s Corner

Bertie’s Corner

To our Community: March is here and though the cold weather is hanging on, we have also had some beautiful warm days. There is still a chance we we may have freezing weather since Easter is still a month away.

I am, however, looking forward for spring. The season bring us joy that we survived winter with snow. And don’t look now, but the pollen is here. It is a contrast with the white flowers on the trees and the yellow pollen is all around. Have a great week! ***** To everyone that is supporting Session Hill Community Center: We still need your support and anyone who would like to help us finish the flooring renovation, we thank you in advance. The Community Board Members and the Committee Board are working hard. We will be having more fundraiser programs to complete this renovation. For more information, contact Jacqueline Wallace 912-449-4988 or Bertie Allen 912-282-7473. ***** Session Hill Community Center will have Bingo at 4 p.m. this Saturday, March 8. The Center is located at 3105 Allen Ave., Blackshear. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door (10 rounds). Ages permitted are 16 years and up. For more information, contact Jacqueline Wallace at 912-449-4988. ***** No Male Left Behind organization will be serving breakfast at from 7 a.m. until Saturday, March 8, at the Auto Advance parking lot in Blackshear. Come fellowship with us. We have best cooks in Blackshear. The menu includes grits, pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon and orange juice. All are welcome. ***** The Pierce County NAACP Chapter 5227B is a local organization we are striving to put back into action. It’s a civil rights group that’s willing to aid those who need help. It’s the official site for taking the cause further when you feel you’ve been wronged, or you want to work toward changes that may help the cause. We all have different situations where we need assistance from leadership. We understand everyone doesn’t agree with what the NAACP goes for, but they’re striving to bring change by helping many people. We’re living beneath our privileges and God given rights of life. We have a right to receive the best that life can offer. My question is, are you really receiving what you deserve in life? Help us to help you by joining the local Pierce County NAACP Chapter 5227B. When we’re faced with opposition, the NAACP is there to help assist on your behalf. Will you help us by joining to be a member for $30 a year. Being a member doesn’t mean you must work, but positions will be available soon. For more information contact Charles Broady, Vice President, at 912-548-2656. ***** Positive Thoughts: “Cheers to a new month and another chance for us to get it right.” ***** Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, His love endures forever.
