Waycross Area Community Theatre is proud to present Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka” as this year’s spring musical. The world is astounded when Willy Wonka, for years a recluse in his factory, announces that five lucky people will be given a tour of the factory, shown all the secrets of his amazing candy, and one will win a lifetime supply of Wonka chocolate. Nobody wants the prize more than young Charlie, but his family is so poor buying even one chocolate bar is a treat. Buying enough bars to find one of the golden tickets is extremely unlikely. But magic can happen. Charlie, along with four ill-behaved other children, get the chance to tour the factory. Along the way, mild disasters befall each of the odious children. Can Charlie beat the odds and grab prize?
“Willy Wonka” is directed by Jenny Varnadore with Kathy Cox as choral director. The show features a large cast, including Taylor Hereford, Jaden Lyons, Adam Mock, Noah Helms, Angi Helms, Cole Hendley, Debbie Ratliff, Tom Strait, Vicki Kuhbander, Jay Butler, Liv McConney, Gabrielle Walker, Addison Follette, Ross Bedford, Zacch Lyons, Megan Hendley, KaDen Garner, Kerrigan Sweat, A’zaria Hillman, Natalie Day, Addie Aldridge, Preslie Aldridge, Alary Bedford, Libby Carrin, Aliya Courson, Micah Helms, Ember Hunt, Michael Kersey, Ainsley Killens, Caitlyn Mock, Bradley Morris Emma Morris, Reggan Ryals, Natalee Strickland, Cash Sweet, Samuel, Raylee Alvarez, Aryana Courson, Kyra Courson, Kaelah Diaz, Brandon Griffin, Kasie Jones, JJ Joyce, Emma Paul, and Chloe Wyatt.
Show dates are 7:30 p.m March 6 - 8 and 13 - 15. There are also two 2:30 p.m. matinee performances on March 9 and 16. All performances are held at the historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Waycross. Admission is $18 and reservations may be made online at www.waycrossritz. com.
