Stolen truck leads to high-speed chase

ATKINSON — A truck stolen in Nahunta was eventually stopped by a Georgia State Patrol Trooper using a PIT manueuver on Hwy. 82 just past its intersection with Hwy. 11o Thursday.

The unidentified vehicle was reported taken February 27 from the parking lot at the Dollar General in Nahunta.

A Brantley County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the truck returning from the west outside Hoboken on Hwy. 82. An attempted traffic stop failed between Brantley County High School and the Nahunta city limits.

The unidentified driver of the truck eased through the city limits headed east on Hwy. 82 before hitting a high rate of speed, according to Sheriff Len Davis. The sheriff said the City of Nahunta Police Department also assisted.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper got involved in the chase using the PIT manuever (Precision Immobilization Technique) to stop the vehicle.

The driver was transported to Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross after complaining of injures.

A warrant for charges was being taken out Friday, February 28.
