Pierce County Fire and Rescue seeking new volunteers

Volunteers are currently being sought for Pierce County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighter suppression recruit class will begin Tuesday, July 18. Classes will be every Tuesday at 6 p.m.

“We are seeking men and women to fill our firefighter ranks to serve our community,’ said Pierce County Fire Chief Santo Niño.

Recruits are being sought for all of the Pierce County Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s eight stations including Bearville, Hacklebarney, Northside, Offerman, Otter Creek, Southside, Sunset and Walkerville.

Fire Recruits will go through a long and strenuous curriculum consisting of lectures, skills, tasks and live fire exercises.

Firefighter recruit class is a four month long process. Fire recruit candidates must be able to follow instructions and work well in a team setting.

Orientation Day 1 will be at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training Room located at 253 E. Carter Avenue, Blackshear.

The evening will consist of course curriculum, state requirements, recruit class schedule and candidate concerns and issues.

“Interested individuals are asked to please reach out to us via social media. We look forward to meeting you and potentially working together to serve our citizens and community,” said Niño.
