Employment Expo scheduled April 3 The City of Waycross and Work Source Georgia are partnering to stage the Spring Employment Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3 at the C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

More than 40 businesses are expected to attend the job fair.

Class helps prep for hurricanes

The Church of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2095 Central Avenue, will hold a hurricane preparedness class at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 1.

Displays and demonstrations will include generator safety, use and care, cooking during power outages, water sources, 72hour emergency kits, and basic first aid.

Benefit road races set in next month 

Runners have three chances to get some exercise and support local charities in the coming weeks with road races in the area.

The first opportunity comes Saturday, March 8 in the 48th annual Okefenokee Swamp Run, featuring a 10k trail and a l-mile fun run at the swamp park.

That race is followed Saturday, March 29 with the Hooves to Freedom Trail Race at Moccasin Creek Off-Road Park in Blackshear, where you can enjoy Wainwright sausage dogs after the run, benefiting the Hooves to Freedom horse therapy center.

Finally, Saturday, April 5 comes the LCA Sprint Spring 5k and l-mile fun run in Hoboken, benefiting the Lighthouse Christian Academy.

Bacon Senior Center has dance

The Bacon County Senior Center, 504 N. Pierce Street, Alma, has scheduled a Senior Dance for 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 28.

Disc Jockey Fred Hand will be playing all the golden oldies until 10 p.m. There is a cover charge.

Aging Advisory Council to meet

The Aging Advisory Council of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging will meet at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, February 26) at 1725 S. Georgia Pkwy. West.

Mama’s Kitchen signs with U-Haul

Mama’s Kitchen & Store, 410 Harrison Street, has signed on with U-Haul Co. of Georgia as a neighborhood dealer serving the Waycross area.

The business will offer essential services like UHaul trucks, trailers, towing equipment and moving supplies.

U-Haul has teamed with independent dealers to offer rental equipment to do-it-yourself movers since 1945. The company has more than 21,000 dealers across the U.S. and Canada.

Ware schedules Senior Dance

The Ware County Recreation Department stages a Senior Dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, March 8 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Cecil Brown Drive.

Admission is $7 per person with light refreshments served and a 50/50 raffle. Doors open at 6 p.m..
