Midway Elementary honored as 2025 Model School

Midway Elementary School has been named as a 2025 Model School.

Last year, only 13 elementary schools across the nation were selected for this distinction.

Model Schools are selected and recognized for their efforts to promote high expectations for all students and are invited to share their stories of success with other schools across the nation to inspire others.

Midway was selected for the honor through an application and interview process through the Model School program.

This is the third national honor for Midway Elementary. The school was selected as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School for high performance, as well as a 2023 National Distinguished School for exceptional student performance and academic growth.

Midway Elementary's story will be shared on the national stage in Washington D.C. at the Model School's Conference in June. The hard work of all students, staff and families will be showcased and celebrated during the conference. The leadership team, including Principal Dr. Brandi Todd and Assistant Principals Cole Walsh and Theresa Alonso will be traveling to Washington DC to present about the success of MES.

“Every student deserves a model school, and that is exactly what we strive for daily at MES,” said Dr. Todd. “We are thrilled to have been selected as a 2025 Model School. We would like to acknowledge our wonderful and dedicated staff and students for achieving this honor for our school and county.”

School superintendent Dara Bennett echoed those remarks.

“I am extremely proud of MES for being named a 2025 Model School,” said the superintendent. “The administration, teachers, and staff work very hard to ensure all students can be successful. This honor is a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence.”
