Pierce County teams excel at Okefenokee Technology Competition

Students from the Pierce County School District represented the local area at the 2025 Okefenokee Technology Competition at South Georgia State College in Waycross.

'The 10th Okefenokee Technology Competition saw a remarkable turnout with 153 competing teams, compared to last year’s 124. We had participation from 19 schools across five counties, with Pierce County fielding 33 teams. Impressively, 25 of those teams placed in the top three positions. This is a testament to the highquality STEM education being provided in Pierce County Schools,' said Kim Spivey, Co-Director of the Okefenokee Technology Competition. 'This year also marked the 25th competition hosted by the Georgia Student Technology Competition, highlighting the rapidly growing need for technology education in math and science fields.”

Twenty Pierce County students qualified to compete at the Georgia Student Technology Competition next month in McDonough. The overall medal breakdown for Pierce County included: 1st Place (14), 2nd place (5), and 3rd place (5).
