Joann Johnson Norfleet

HORTENSE — Joann Johnson Norfleet, 56, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Born October 20, 1968 in Baxley, Mrs. Norfleet’s life was a testament to the profound

love she held for her family and the joy she brought to those around her. Mrs. Norfleet

was known for her vibrant spirit and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones.

Her warmth and affection created a strong family bond which will endure in the hearts of those she loved.

Mrs. Norfleet has been reunited in spirit with her father, Jasper Johnson; her sister, Tina Pidgeon; and her beloved grandson, Junebug, who will forever see OBITS, Page 5 remain in the hearts of her family.

She was a cherished wife to her husband, Raymond Norfleet; and the proud mother of her children, Ashley (Rex) Thomas, Alena Barr, Justin Barr and Katelyn Thomas. Her legacy will continue through her many grandchildren, Trinity Thomas, Arianna Thomas, Isabella Barr, Blake Strickland, Sofia Harrell, Ryaind Barr, Cole Brown, Addilyn Brown and David Dahlgren VII; her devoted mother, Marlene Kicklighter Johnson; and her siblings, Ronnie Johnson, Jackie Johnson and Cynthia Johnson.

Mrs. Norfleet’s life was marked by her love for simple pleasures. She found joy in yard sales, baking delectable treats, and hosting memorable Low Country Boils and oyster roasts for her family and friends.

A frequent visitor to the beach, she cherished every moment spent by the shore, adding to the rich tapestry of experiences that defined her life.

Mrs. Norfleet will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her loving spirit will continue to inspire and nurture the family and friends she left behind, reminding them always of the importance of love, connection, and togetherness.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
