Joel Claywren ‘Jody’ Hickox

WAYCROSS — Mr. Joel Claywren “Jody” Hickox, 68 of Waycross, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health.

Born February 7, 1957 in Thetford, England, Hickox lived in Waycross most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and later went on to work as the maintenance supervisor for the Hickox loved to crack jokes and make people smile, and had a givers heart. He was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and dearly loved his family.

Hickox was a son of the late James William Hickox and Willie Maude Cox Hickox. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hartley; a sister, Mary Colleen Clarke; a brother, Tommy Hickox; and his canine children, Lucky and Angel.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hickox of Waycross; his daughter, Joeleen Hickox of Boston, Ga.; five sons, Kelly (Kaycee) Hall, Winston Hall and Chaz Clos, all of Waycross, Austin (Tasha) Hartley of Delight, Arkansas and Dallas Hartley of El Dorado, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Heather (Mark) Williams of Waycross; a stepson, Lee Parr of Waycross; two sisters, Kathy (Tommy)

Lee of Hoboken and Gail Mitchell of California; two brothers, David (Billie) Hickox of Callahan, Fla.,, and Larry Hickox of Jemison, Ala.; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three canine children, Shiloh, Minnie Pearl and Toby; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service ws held Monday afternoon, February 24, 2025 at 12 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
