Joel Claywren “Jody” Hickox, 68, of Waycross, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Thetford, England February 7, 1957, he lived in Waycross most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and later went on to work as the maintenance supervisor for The Birmingham News. He loved to crack jokes and make people smile and had a givers heart.
He was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and dearly loved his family.
He was a son of the late James William Hickox and Willie Maude Cox Hickox. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hartley; a sister, Mary Colleen Clarke; a brother, Tommy Hickox and his canine children, Lucky and Angel.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hickox, Waycross; his daughter, Joeleen Hickox, Boston; five sons, Kelly (Kaycee) Hall, Winston Hall and Chaz Clos, all of Waycross, Austin (Tasha) Hartley, Delight, AR, and Dallas Hartley, El Dorado, AR; a step-daughter, Heather (Mark) Williams, Waycross; a step-son, Lee Parr, Waycross; two sisters, Kathy (Tommy) Lee, Hoboken and Gail Mitchell of California; two brothers, David (Billie) Hickox, Callahan and Larry Hickox, Jemison, AL; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three canine children, Shiloh, Minnie Pearl and Toby and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 24, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
