Ware County Lady Gator head coach Mandy Lingenfelter and senior Charlacia Jones captured two of the three top honors for Region 1-AAAA girls’ basketball.
The Lady Gators had seven other members recognized for their play earning First Team, Second Team and honorable mention recogntion.
Trinitee Thomas of Warner Robins was named the Player of the Year with teammate Korveanna Slaughter named Offensive Player of the Year.
Lingenfelter was named the Coach of the Year after leading the ninth-ranked Lady Gators (23-4) to a runner-up finish in the region standings and eventual region title with a 46-39 victory at previously unbeaten thirdranked Warner Robins.
Lingenfelter has led Ware County to five 20plus win seasons including back-to-back the last two years. The Lady Gators are 82-27 over the last four years with three straight region tournament titles.
Jones was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year.
Post player Shardell Vickers and wing Rhianna Mateyka were named all-Region First Team members. They were joined by Janell Turner of Warner Robins, Kennedi Miller of Perry, Tailin Ward of Wayne County and New Hampsteads Gianna Brown.
Guard Alexis McNeal and post player Bre'yona Hill earned Second Team honors. Chyanne Phillips and Laila Howard-Haney of Warner Robins, Anna Dean of Perry and Kalasia Culbreath of Wayne County were also selected Second Team members.
Earning honorable mention status were guards Kyla McKelvin, Bailey Denton and Lydia Munford.
Others recognized were Verkesia Fuller and Kennedy Jacobs of Warner Robins, Markayla Ragin, Cam McKenzie and Kampbell Mitchell of Perry, Wayne County’s Mimi Everett, Desani Shaw and Alyssa Tillman, and New Hampstead’s Promise Cooper.
